Just back from another fortnight in the West Country. As you can see, we had a lovely time as ever, with beautiful weather.

After a busy summer, Stuart and I decided to head back to Swallow Cottage for a break. The weather was mostly kind to us fortunately. During our stay we visited: Dartington Crystal (a glass making factory on the outskirts of Great Torrington), Sandymouth Beach near Bude in Cornwall, Castle Drogo (a medieval style castle built on the edge of Dartmoor during the early twentieth century), Northam Burrows (large sandy beach near Appledore), the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Rosemoor, Finch Foundry (a restored, working example of a old forge near Okehampton), Instow near Bideford, Hartland Quay (we were pleasantly surprised to find the Museum here open on the day of our visit) and Arlington Court near Barnstaple.

We had a lovely time, and are already looking forward to next year!

Hope you like the photos!

Earlier in the year, Stuart and I headed to the West Country for a two week break. We stayed in Swallow Cottage, a beautiful converted barn in Buckland Brewer, a small village about 5 miles south-west of Bideford.

We visited lots of places during our stay, including the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Rosemoor, Arlington Court (a National Trust property just outside Barnstaple), Lynton and Lynmouth (including a ride on the cliff railway down to Lynmouth from Lynton), Hartland Quay, The Big Sheep (a sheep themed museum/theme park) Watersmeet (a really picturesque valley near Lynton and Lynmouth, maintained by the National Trust ~ a former fishing lodge at the bottom of the valley has been converted into a tea room/shop ~ very welcome after the steep descent down!) and our favourite beach, Duckpool, on the Cornish coast (a stunning, secluded beach with lots of sand and rockpools at low tide)

Here are some of our holiday photos ~ I hope you enjoy them!
